Can't see your blog? You need to login to view blogs and to write/update your blog.

Hi,

Thanks for giving 'blogs' a go.  You've probably already blogged outside of school activities. This time we are inviting you to keep track of your subject progress using the blog format.

Why? So you can practice what is called 'reflection', which means you are thinking about what you've learned. Another reason is that other students can comment on what you're doing in a particular subject.  Your teachers can also give you feedback and encouragement in the same way. Yet another reason is so that a group of you can 'talk' about a specific project or topic.

Your blogs are viewable only by logged in users. That means it is for school viewing only. In the future we might make it publicly accessible. That will largely depend on all of us sticking to some basic blogging rules...

Here's some good rules for being online [author unknown]

•    Only ever use your first name or a nickname when you are writing on this or other blogs or wikis

•    Never use any other student’s last name

•    Never post any personal information–such as your home phone number or home address on this or any other blog or wiki

•    Never share any of you usernames or passwords with anyone and never log in as another student

•    Always tell your parents or teacher right away if you come across anything that makes you feel uncomfortable

•    Remember the “grandma rule” that anything you put on the internet could be read by your grandmother so only write things you could say to the nicest of grannies

•    Be a good online citizen and never write or post anything that could hurt anyone else

•    Always check with an adult if someone asks for your phone number or to meet you

•    Never make arrangements to meet anyone over the internet without telling your parents

•    Make sure you publish only your own work. Don’t under any circumstances use other people’s work and call it your own

•    Make sure that you read over your writing before you post it to check the spelling and that it reads okay.

So, if you haven't started yet, give it a go; it's not meant to be hard work.

Have fun.

Staff, please email R.Bouman via edumail to get a username and password so you can start using your blog.

I think that information technology will and won’t play an important role in my life because I don’t plan to be doing a job that includes a lot of computer work only for little stuff like for example to make an appointment for someone what needs to happen its all on the computer. It will because all jobs have at least a little of computer work in every job you still need to know how to use a computer.

theres smacking and theres smaking! pearants should be able to hit there kids but when the kids come to school with serious bruses from child abuse this is when action should be taken.

I don't believe that smaking a child should be against the law.
I believe that there is a time and a place for smaking a child. I don't think that people should be able to smack there child in public and the child only to be only smacked when necisary as this shows behaviour to other children who maybe be in the area where the child is getting smacked.

The government should defently get tougher on people smugglers, because the people smugglers are making money off the asylum seekers hardship.

Muck Up Day shouldn’t be cancelled, because year 12’s are only having a bit of fun. As long as they clean up after there mess and whatever else they may do, than there shouldn’t be any problem with Muck Up Day running like usual.

Here is the new Issue of the Week. Recently a mother was reported to the authorities after her daughter mentioned at school that she was smacked by her mother (using a wooden spoon I think). So, what do you think? Should smacking a child be against the law? Don't forget to explain your contention.

I agree that the goverment should get tougher on the people smugglers because if we dont it shows that Australia is an easy target for the people smugglers to send the asylum seekers too and that the smugglers are just getting the better end of the bargain gained from the asylum seekers seeking refugee in Australia.

I strongly agree that the government should get tougher on people smugglers, people smugglers spend their time bringing over asylum seekers, risking their life and others and benefiting off the asylum seekers misfortune. Not only do the people smugglers benefit financially, but they are also wasting the asylum seekers time by bringing them over to our country, and then the asylum seekers get caught and sent back with no money or family to fall back on when they get back home again.

On the issue of banning muck up day I belive they should leave it as is because these students have spent the last twlve years of there life studying and they need to do something at the end of that to celibrate . ryan durcan

The goverment should be tougher on people smugglers as they take people out to see in unsea-worthy. Alot of boats my sink or be attacked by prirates. The govement should toughen up so we dont look like such a easy traget and get flooded by Refugees.

I think muck-up day should still be held, because it's the last day for the year twelves and they if theres trouble the people who made the trouble should be made to clean it up

I believe muck up day should still be held as this is our last day of school before we move onto our future. I also believe that people who wish to be silly about it and cost schools heaps of money should be prosocuted. It should all be harmless fun.
